Alarm.com's Platform Connect Enables Easy Integration into the Connected Home

Multi-tiered integration connects more products and devices and creates powerful connected home experience for consumers

Vienna, VA – April 10, 2013 – Alarm.com, the leading provider of interactive security and connected home services, today announced Platform Connect, a flexible integration service for partners to connect their products with the Alarm.com Platform. This enables more devices and best of breed partners to be integrated into the Alarm.com service and single app experience. With Platform Connect, Alarm.com continues to integrate more parts of the home to deliver on the promise of a truly connected home. Homeowners will now be able to have a single solution to control all of the mission critical systems in their home and also be confident they can continue to extend the services as more products are integrated into Alarm.com through Platform Connect.

Alarm.com Platform Connect allows flexible integration options making it easier to add new products and still deliver a first class, seamless experience to the homeowner. Platform Connect delivers this flexibility through a multi-tiered API supporting direct integration, cloud-to-hardware integration and cloud-to-cloud integration to the Alarm.com Platform. This allows Alarm.com and its partners to enable all devices and services through one experience providing homeowners with a truly connected home experience.

"Alarm.com is working to connect all the mission critical devices in the home in a single, easy to use experience. We see the unlimited possibilities inherent in "The Internet of Things" and Platform Connect allows easy integration into the Alarm.com platform to make it a reality in the home. As more and more devices have the ability to be remotely accessible, it opens up new possibilities for how a consumer can interact with all the devices in their home – and how these devices interact with one another," said Alison Slavin, vice president of product management, Alarm.com. "With Platform Connect we have architected our connected home platform for easy and secure integration with third party solutions, putting Alarm.com in the unique position to transform the vision of the connected home into a reality."

Unlike standalone smart home devices such as thermostats and door locks that work independently and place the burden on the consumer to manage multiple products and applications separately, Alarm.com's connected home platform delivers an integrated experience that is fully customizable by the homeowner to include the applications most valuable to him or her. Homeowners can control, manage and monitor all of their connected home services from a single Alarm.com mobile app, or from their Web account, and easily create automation rules that let these devices work together automatically. This makes the services easier to use and enables great connected experiences like making sure all the doors are locked, the lights are out, the shades are down, the thermostat is adjusted to save energy and the garage door is closed, just by arming the security system.

Alarm.com's multi-tiered APIs for its connected home platform have allowed for rapid, easy integration with a broad range of market-leading third party solutions providers. Recent partners taking advantage of Platform Connect include:

  • LiftMaster® garage door openers – Integration with LiftMaster's line of residential garage door openers allows Alarm.com customers to remotely manage and control garage door activity – and tightly integrate this control with Alarm.com's underlying security and home automation platform.

  • Lutron lights and shading – Now customers can integrate the control of their Lutron lights and shades with Alarm.com interactive home security, energy management and automation services.

  • Solar Integration – Integrating rooftop solar solutions into the Alarm.com interactive services platform enables consumers to monitor solar energy production as part of whole-home visibility into energy usage and patterns.

With more partners' products being integrated through Platform Connect, Alarm.com Dealer Partners now have the ability to add more services to the core interactive security offering, creating a deeper relationship with the homeowner and extending the overall value of the service they provide. As more and more devices integrate into the Alarm.com platform it will drive user engagement to create customer stickiness and allow Alarm.com Dealer Partners to revisit their current customers to deliver new and valuable added services to existing installations. Alarm.com is dedicated to creating the best solution with the most options to ensure our Dealer Partners are always one step ahead in the market.

The Alarm.com connected home platform will be demonstrated at ISC West in Las Vegas April 10-12, 2013 at the Venetian, Titan 2302.
