In the event of an emergency, the resident can press a button to generate immediate alerts to a list of contacts and (optionally) a central monitoring station.

An Alarm.com system does not rely on a phone line or internet connection, so it's not vulnerable to line tampering or internet outages. All signals are sent through a dedicated, wireless connection. A backup battery enables system functionality for up to 24 hours during a power outage.

| Motion detectors, door/window contacts and other types of sensors throughout the home report activity to the Alarm.com control panel, which analyzes the data in real-time. Based on user-configured settings, the control panel transmits relevant data to the offsite Alarm.com Operations Center through a dedicated wireless connection. The Operations Center processes and stores all system activity data, allowing family members and other care providers to remotely monitor everyday activity through the web and receive alerts of activity that falls outside of the individual's normal patterns. In addition, customers can choose to have their system alert a 24 x 7 central monitoring station in the event of an emergency situation, to ensure that a live operator is available to respond to their situation and call for help if needed. | |
